🎧 Use Songshift to Transfer Playlists Between Music Streaming Services for Free

What’s up!

This is theInTersectionof, and this is your daily dose of “feel good” tech

Here’s what connects with you today:

  • Have a cherished playlist, but need to transfer it to another streaming service - well Songshift is the app for you

It goes without saying that a plethora of music is literally right at our fingertips. In this age of digital music streaming, music from all over the world can be accessed with a few simple taps on our smartphones.

However, if you're someone who's been using multiple music streaming services over the years, you might find yourself with a playlist scattered across different apps. This is where Songshift comes in.

What is Songshift?

Songshift is a free iOS app that allows users to transfer playlists across multiple music streaming services. Whether you're moving from Spotify to Apple Music or Tidal to Deezer, Songshift simplifies the process of exporting and importing playlists, saving you the hassle of manually recreating your favorite tracks.

I recently bought into Apple One which means I get Apple Music included with the service. I then decided to take the plunge and leave Spotify who I’ve been with for years. I have many and I mean MANY cherished playlists in Spotify. So transferring requires that I can maintain those cherished playlists, including my famed “Blue Van Mix” which is a playlist I created with sentimental value. To take on this daunting task I tried Songshift and must say it worked like a charm.

Getting Started

To get started with Songshift, all you need to do is download the app from the App Store and grant it access to your music streaming accounts. Songshift currently supports over 12 music streaming services (at my last count), including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and more. Once you've linked your accounts, you can start creating your playlist transfer.

To transfer a playlist, simply select the source and destination services, choose the playlist you want to transfer, and hit "Shift." Songshift will then start migrating your tracks, albums, and playlists across your selected services. Depending on the size of your playlist and the speed of your internet connection, the transfer process can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

Customization and Options

Songshift also offers a variety of customization options to help you tailor your playlist transfer to your specific needs. For example, you can choose to exclude duplicates or only transfer specific tracks within a playlist. Additionally, Songshift allows you to create multiple transfers at once, so you can transfer all of your playlists to your new streaming service in one go. Then all you have to do is check for anything Songshift couldn’t transfer. In my case out of 5 playlist transfers there was one ‘deep’ cut that it couldn’t handle. Also, since I tend to listen to the “Wal-Mart” version of songs, as I call them (non-explicit) that is a consideration as well when transferring to make sure they line up on the destination side.

The Bottom Line

You can get started with Songshift right away, with no cost as it's completely free to use. If you would like to support the developers monetarily, you can purchase the "Pro" version of the app and unlock additional features like automatic transfers, unlimited transfers, fast transfers, and the ability to transfer playlists with more than 100 songs. That’s umm, a lot of transfers!

Pro Features in SongShift

Songshift is a fantastic tool for anyone looking to consolidate their music playlists across multiple streaming services.

It’s simple to use and gives you ‘peace of mind’ knowing your collection stays intact.

So, whether you're switching to a new streaming service or simply want to keep all your music in one place Songshift could be the tool for you
